IM BACK!!!!!!!!

To all my lovely hair friends :) I'm back! I have been back since the 15th of September and I am now just getting around to telling you all that I am here and ready for your hair needs.  My loyal clients have kept me very busy and I am starting to see some availability again.  If your not on my schedule for the upcoming holiday season, make your reservation soon.I am now available 4 days a week. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays. Please visit the website at mezzaninesalon.com or call 612-333-9913 to reserve your space.
For those of you that I haven't seen, we are now a happy healthy family of 3. My husband of 10 years, John and I welcomed Zoë Ann Carlson on June 28, 2011 at 10:21pm via c-section (not planned). She weighed 6lbs 14oz and was 19 1/4". We are adapting to our new life as a family.  I am in love with being a mother, who knew you could love something so much. It has been incredible watching her grow and change in the past months and I am truly blessed to have had the time off to get to know her. I feel very lucky to have so many wonderful clients that are also amazing mothers that can help me on my new path of motherhood! I look forward to seeing you all back in the chair. Lets enter this holiday season looking our best and get 2012 started off looking and feeling great!
Cheers to you all!

P.S. A family photo will be posted soon :)

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for your thoughtful words, wishes and gifts!   I cant wait, a long with many other people, to see what her sweet little face looks like.  I cant wait to look into her eyes and see myself and my husband John.  We are both really looking forward to becoming parents and starting a new chapter in our lives!  For those of you that don't know.  John and I have been together ever since high school ( I was 16 when we started dating).  We will have been married 10 years this coming September and so we are definitely ready to shake things up a bit!  This will be the first grandchild on both sides as well, so both sets of grandparents are equally excited!  I know that some of  you follow my blog posts and are not on Facebook so I will post some information and some photos when I get back and settled from the hospital.  We are 2 weeks out from the due date now........tick-tock!
I hope that all of you enjoy your summer!  I will be back on September 13th :)

Peace and Love to all of you!

I am sorry to those of you that I will not be able to accommodate but I will see you in the fall. We will have plenty to catch up on.  Enjoy the summer :)

Lots of Love

Before I go.....

Hello to you all.  Just wanted to get a post on here before the big day happens.....this pregnancy has just flown by! I cant believe that little miss Zoë will be joining John and I sometime in the next 5 weeks or so.  Most of you all know that my last day will be on June 18 (unless otherwise notified) and I will be back the 3rd week in September.  I know that it is hard to get an appointment with me right now and can not accommodate everyone that will want to get in before I go.  I can certainly give you a referral to someone if you need it, just let me know.  I will be leaving all of your color formulas behind, so if you have liked what we have been doing the person taking care of you can just follow what we have done.  I have really enjoyed this pregnancy but am ready for it to come to an end and take on this next step in our lives!  Have a great summer everyone and I look forward to getting you fall ready in September!
Lots of Love!

Finally some sunshine!

Hello to all of my hair following friends! How magical was it to wake up to the beautiful sun shining this morning?! Hopefully no more freezing days......fingers and toes crossed!
I know many of you like to brighten up that color when welcoming warmer weather and the length often comes up a bit too :) just want to make you all aware that I will be here until the 18th of June tentatively and my days are filling up fast! If you want to see me before my precious little Zoë arrives call 612-333-9913 or book online at mezzaninesalon.com, I will be back from my maternity leave in September. If you need a referral to someone while I am off please let me know! I look forward to seeing you all in my chair before I take on a new chapter of my life.
Hugs to you all :)

Happy Spring Beauties!

As this crazy long snowy winter parts us, thank god, we need to get ourselves looking good to step back out into the world!  One of my dear clients Jill Dahler was in the other day to get her hair colored for her birthday and she made a great comment, "We all take such good care of our face, why don't people take care of what frames it?" I thought it was a great point and shouldn't go unspoken!
I know that everyone is ready for a spring clean up, (whether its a cut, color or foil) I will take care of you!  There are so many cute cuts and colors in style right now.  Wearing a more classic shape that holds a bit of thickness in it rather than the thin over textured cuts are whats right now.  Did you see Brooklyn Deckers new crop? So cute and a perfect example :) Come in and see me and we can find your perfect new cut and color to make you feel fabulous!
Happy Hair to you all!

Heat wave......bring it on!

With the weather heating up daily (dare I say this too soon....) I am looking forward to spring hair.  I think all of us Minnesotans can agree that winter is to long!  We start to feel like our hair is drab, lack luster and dry.  Our skin pasty, bodies over weight, and so tired of putting layer after layer of clothing on just to keep warm everyday.  With all of these crazy things our bodies endure every year, like clock work, I am thankful there is a place we can all go to feel better! THE SALON!  I am reminded daily how much I am loved as a stylist, all of that love given to me by my clients fills my heart with rainbows and sunshine!  So I guess you could say that it is warm and bright in my heart everyday.
Spring and summer hair.......I cant wait!  Beachy sun kissed blondes to careless carmel brunettes, taking our serious solid shades and adding in natural looking dimension, like we used to get from playing in the summer sun as kids.  It will still be a little while, this is MN, unpredictable climate.  Remember last St. Patricks day???? It was in the 60's.......a girl can dream!

Where does time go........

I can't believe that almost a whole month has passed by already! You know what they say.....time flys when your having fun!
Love, love, love my new color line and getting a lot more comfortable using Shu Uemura and Bumble and Bumble (new styling products). I have to say that I am humbled by all of my wonderful clients that have taken the time to track me down. I know that salons don't make it easy to follow your stylist in this industry :) and a no one really knows my last name, so I know that you all have put your Nancy Drew caps on. Actions defenatly speak louder than words, so thank you for your continued support.
On a funny note, my ever expanding baby bump could become a problem at the shampoo bowl eventually.......stay tuned :)

Week One......CHECK!

Well I made it though my first week!  In the same breath.....I cant believe a week has gone by already!
I am absolutely loving my new Schwarzkopf color line.  After using Aveda my whole career, not to mention educating for them, I am truly shocked at how much I am not missing it!  Weird, right?!  Over the years I found Aveda to be gentle, yes but predictable and consistent, no.  Being that it was derived from plants and such the pigments were constantly changing, making your results hit and miss.  Which can be a bit frustrating at times. With Schwarzkopf color I have consistency! Hallelujah! Not to mention that it is way easier to mix, the consistency is amazing (no need for thickener during foils) and the smell isn't as chemical (which is great for my current sensitive nose-lol).
I am having a blast expanding my horizon in the product department!  Shu Uemura is incredible!!!!! Its a luxury imported line from Japan and is extremely exclusive.  There are only a couple of salons here in MN who carry it and Mezzanine is one of them.  It is a higher price point than most, but worth every penny.  My favorite product from that line would hands down be the Essence Absolue, which is a nourishing protective oil. Great for all of our dried out MN hair!  Bumble and Bumble is super fun, easy to use and great smelling. My favorite products from them so far is the Tonic Spray, Thickening Spray, Grooming Cream and the Sumotech (for men)......still getting acquainted with everything, but its getting easier!
I made some serious strides this evening on the business side of things, thanks to my father-in-law Rick.  He had prepared some record keeping spread sheets for me to keep book on everything! Man talk about someone who thinks of everything.  It was laid out so well!   I didn't break a sweat, drop a tear or pull my hair out (thank god! Could be hard to explain that to clients)!
Now......time to relax and catch some Z's or count lambs, that's to be determined.

Off without a hitch.....

Wow! What an amazing first day!! I am still floating, tired but floating. Today was so fun and I remembered why I do what I do. My first offcial color went great. The color turned out beautiful, hope you are loving it Lizzy :) I also had 6 haircuts today, amazing for a first day. Thank you to all of my supporters for sticking with me and allowing me to do what I do! I know that you all have a choice of where you can go and who you can see and it is truly humbling to know that you choose me! I am realizing that in this crazy business world you figure out awfully fast who's got your back and who doesn't. I also have found it interesting that after putting in the time, a lot of time, someones true colors show when you are no longer benefitting them. I guess money does talk and I'm not a dollar sign.
Kind of a funny side note from today. Didn't order myself a tech tray.....uh duh Amy, where are you going to work off of. I blame it on my pregnancy brain! Can't wait for what tomorrow will bring.

P.s. Thank you to Lacey and my mother Francie for the very beautiful and thoughtful flowers today! I felt so special! Love you both :)

It's finally here!!!

I have been waiting for this day for a while! I am so excited, I can hardly stand it.......
I will let you all know how the first day went later, wish me luck!.......

The new product lines I will be using

Here is a link to the 2 new product lines I will be using......just thought you might like to do a little research yourself.
The first, I am really excited about, is the She Uemura line.  I have heard amazing things about it.  Even my mothers husbands sister in New York knew of it. She owns a shop called Parlor in Manhattan NYC, a friend of hers is a salon owner and that's all he uses and loves it.    http://www.shuuemuraartofhair-usa.com/home/index_flash.aspx

The second, which I know a lot of you have heard of and maybe used yourself is Bumble and Bumble. Check them out too. Great product, fun packaging. http://www.bumbleandbumble.com/

Only a few days away from the start of an amazing journey.....A new year fill with limitless possibilities :)
Cheers, Happy New Year!
